Women’s Hope Education and Training Trust

As we celebrate the life of Madiba and say good bye to our Leader we are reminded of his belief that HOPE is a powerful weapon, which no one power on earth can deprive you. It is with sadness that we follow the 10 days of mourning and once again we are reminded that hope is hopeless unless followed by action.

Wheat Trust introduced the ‘I Give Hope’ Campaign in November 2013. Together, we can empower women, our communities, and ultimately, our country, Giving HOPE a chance of becoming a reality!

We all hope for a better future for our country, but poverty and struggle continue around us. Making a difference often seems impossible, but it’s not. Many ordinary women work tirelessly every day towards bringing change in the lives of their fellow women and other members of their community.

The WHEAT Trust identifies and funds these women who lead grassroots organisations in South Africa, and make a difference in their communities. We are committed to inspiring social change and amplifying the voices of women who promote social justice and equality. We help women work towards realising their independence and their rights through education and skills training. Through our training and capacity building the women are empowered to escape their often abusive circumstances, become self-sustainable, and support each other while still caring, sharing and leading in their local communities.

We are WHEAT.

And we need your support to enable us to continue our work. By donating to WHEAT you are giving where it is most needed and every cent goes where it should.

In conclusion we thank our FRIENDS for their support in the past year. We wish you to leave you with this quote from our beloved Madiba “I am fundamentally an optimist. Whether that comes from nature or nurture, I cannot say. Part of being optimistic is keeping one’s head pointed toward the sun, one’s feet moving forward. There were many dark moments when my faith in humanity was sorely tested, but I would not and could not give myself up to despair. That way lays defeat and death.”

Wishing you a happy and safe holiday season and a prosperous 2014.
