My name is David Barnard and I have something very exciting to tell you about.

Firstly, I’m a father, a husband, and an activist. Like you, I have a great passion for our environment. My love for the planet has lead me to enter an exciting 250km footrace through the Antarctic wilderness to raise R250 000 for Greenpeace.

The Last Desert Race begins on November 4th in Antarctica, when I’ll head out into the severest of weather conditions and biting cold. We’re talking gale-force blizzards and temperatures as low as -20C.

It’ll be by far the most unique thing I’ve ever done – maybe even the craziest – but I’m doing it with a real purpose. I believe that climate change is one of the most pressing human challenges of our time. I’m running this race to draw attention to that challenge, raising awareness, so that more of us can get involved and do something about it.
The money I raise will go to a new Greenpeace Africa community-based solar power project. You’ll be hearing a lot more about the project in weeks to come, but for now,
