Theme: LOOKING BACK TO THE FUTURE – benefitting people, penguins and our planet

 The Simon’s Town gala auction is held annually to raise funds for the rehabilitation of African penguins and other threatened seabirds with glamorous conservator-couple Michelle and Riaan Garforth-Venter as Masters of Ceremony for the evening.  As official fundraisers of the Burgher’s Walk Restoration Project, SANCCOB is sharing the funds raised on the evening towards the upliftment of this unprotected area close to the Boulders colony where African penguins are at risk.

Simon’s Town Penguin Festival

Simon’s Town, Cape Town

Two days of educational fun, food stalls and games for the family kicking off with a beach release of a group of African penguins back into the wild.  The festival features live animals i.e. penguin-, raptor-, snake shows and the opportunity to tinker alongside ‘die nuutsman’ Riaan Garforth-Venter to build your very own bird-feeder.

A special day dedicated to this charismatic species celebrated all over the world.

The release of a group of wild African penguins, rehabilitated at SANCCOB, back into the wild will mark the opening of the Simon’s Town Penguin Festival.  The public is encouraged to come along and witness this moving event.
