The Chaeli Campaign is the only NPO in SA founded by children who are active members of the Management Committee. In the past 5 years over 400 children have received assistive devices varying from hearing aids to wheelchairs, laptop computers as well as therapies.
An outreach therapy programme supports the needs of children in Ocean View, Masiphumelele, Red Hill and at Stikland Hospital, as well as at the Therapy Centre at Chaeli Cottage. An inclusive education programme also impacts differently-abled individuals, their families and their communities.
At the 2007 Proudly South African Homegrown Awards The Chaeli Campaign was acknowledged as Nation Builder of the Year, and in 2009 were awarded the Mayor’s Medal for service to the community.
