The Seaside Homeowners Association is the association of the owners of the seaside cottages located behind the dunes toward the Clovelly end of Fish Hoek Beach.
There are 81 Cottages in all. For the past 5 years the Association has been trying to move the City of Cape Town Property Management Dept. to lift an embargo they have placed on trading the leases, i.e. not allowing the buying and selling of the Cottages. The embargo is due, they say, to irregularities which occurred at the time of building 25 years ago, at which time the leases were not properly registered at the Deeds Office and are thus considered to be illegal. Nothing has transpired to regularize the leases, and hardship has been caused by a number deceased estates which cannot be wound up.
