It’s kayak race time again soon. Take part in the Paddlers Annual Kayak Race on Sunday 23rd September in Simon’s Town. Cost is R30 per person and all this money is donated directly to the NSRI.
Every kayak paddler is encouraged to come along and set their best time over a set course, but even more important – have a good time paddling with like minded people. There are two distances so even the newest and unfittest can come and get involved. There is no restriction on the type of kayak. There are some conflicting views about the seriousness of the event but for most people it gives you an extra push to do a paddle against the clock – the only person you have to beat is yourself. And it’s all for a good cause as well. This race starts from Long Beach at the Simons Town railway station at 9.30am. Registration begins at 8.45 and closes at 9.15. If the weather is terrible the race will be postponed to the following weekend. Please check the blog or twitter as always before you leave home for an update. www.paddlers.co.za
The race takes places on the same weekend as the Simon’s Town Festival so bring your family and friends to enjoy the race and the rest of the town activities.
Kayak Demo Day – Sunday 23rd September 11am
After the race we will be on hand to demo a wide range of kayaks from. If you are in the market for a new kayak please let us know the model so we can make sure we have it there. Also please ask all your non-paddling friends (and even your enemies – business could be always be better!) who may want to get into the sport to come along.
