NEWS:

  • Mother Goose tied up in fishing line and rescued by Megan Reid and team from the Cape of Good Hope SPCA Wild Life Team.   She has nine baby goslings (originally 11) making her very difficult to catch.   Many grateful thanks to all those who tried but most especially to Megan and team who finally caught her with a throw net – an art very difficult to muster.   Thank you to you all who cared so much.   Please encourage the fisherman to act more responsibly.
  • Regular Glencairn Beach Clean Ups on the first Saturday of every month – meet in the Beach Car Park @ 09h30 for an hour & a half.   This is a wonderful new initiative to clean our beaches by Simon & Nicki Good and assisted by Christoph Kastern.   They started in Fish Hoek and are now including Glencairn – Simon also designed the wonderful red sign “They Poop, You Skoop”!   I am very distressed at the amount of dog poo on the paths that is not being picked up, particularly in the Wetland.   Do take an extra bag and hand it to anyone failing to pick up after their dog.   We must do something to stop this irresponsible behaviour.
  • Do diarise the International Coastal Clean Up taking place on Saturday 19th September – more details to come nearer the time.
  •

Looking forward to seeing you next Saturday – Cilla & Rupert
