Appearing in our morning concert at 10h45 on Thursday 15 November at the Casa Labia Cultural Centre, Main Road, Muizenberg, are Eva Tamassy (flute), Dianne Mitchell Baker (flute), and Richard Turner (classical guitar and clarinet). Eva received her musical education at the Franz Liszt Academy in Hungary. She came to this country in 1956, and soon established herself as a leading recitalist, chamber musician and concerto soloist. Dianne studied at the Vienna Conservatoire of Music, passing all her exams with distinction. She taught flute for fourteen years at the University of Stellenbosch. Richard studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and has performed regularly in the UK, as well as in Sardinia, Prague and Seattle. Their programme will include works by Berlioz, Arnold, Hasse, Jacob, Villa-Lobos and Nazareth. Tickets are R50.

Our evening concert at 19h00 on Wednesday 21 November features South Africa’s leading chamber music trio, namely Suzanne Martens (violin), Peter Martens (cello), and Nina Schumann (piano). All three musicians are attached to the Conservatoire at the University of Stellenbosch, which presents the renowned international chamber music festival. This concert is a wonderful opportunity to experience the virtuosity of these outstanding musicians within the intimate ambience of the Casa Labia. Their programme will include the Debussy Piano Trio, Beethoven’s Opus 70 No 2, and Shostakovitch’s Piano Trio No 2. Tickets are R150, which includes snacks and a welcome drink from 18h15.
