The price of and technology for renewable electricity generation is becoming increasingly attractive for residential PV systems and more home owners are opting to generate electricity.  Selling surplus electricity to your local authority should provide a win win: green electricity for the City and some income for the small scale energy generator to help pay for their system.  

The biggest win is spreading the generation capability – literally power by and for the people – instead of the alternative of crippling debt to pay for huge Eskom coal powered stations with equally huge environmental and health costs.  Cape Town is piloting approval for small scale energy generation and is signing up its first client this week.
