As this was previously circulated, you know that Janet Holwill has been contacted by a number of people on the ‘new hot issue’ of dogs on beaches.

A restricted group of the Exco has discussed this and we believe that the FHVRRA should also make a submission.

The present ruling is

* dogs are not allowed in front of the Galley and on Jager Walk

* dogs are allowed off the leash from the lighthouse to the Clovelly beach

We are of the opinion that this ruling should remain in place.

We have had feedback from some who regularly take their dog(s) to the beach that dog owners display a lot of discipline in picking up any mess made by their dog(s).

We also note the increased presence of vagrants / muggers in the area adjacent to the Clovelly beach. We continue to appeal to our councillors that council should take action in this regard.  The presence of a dog provides the dog owner with some protection.

Please advise Helen O’Regan (hnoregan@axxess.co.za), with your reasons, should you NOT agree with our stance.
