THE AP JONES LEGACY

In the early 1920s Mr AP Jones started out on a journey that created the legendary AP Jones brand when he arrived in the village of Fish Hoek, initially as a sales rep for a departmental store in Cape Town. Spending months away from home and his family was not what he desired so he bought a grocery shop in Parkers building, Kommetjie Road.

At a point in time he opened a drapery shop as well and operated both shops from one building.

To celebrate the rest of the story and his legacy, the Association is privileged to announce that on Thursday evening 11 October 2012 Mrs Jenny Bing will give a talk and slide show on her late father “AP” at the Fish Hoek Library Hall at 17:45 for 18h00 til 19:00.

A prize will be awarded at the start of the talk for the person who guesses the correct name of the departmental store for which he worked and another prize for guessing the correct answer to the street address of AP’s second business premises.

Cost: Association Members free; non-members R5-00.

Beverages and treats: courtesy The Windsor Restaurant and Pick ‘n Pay Family Store, both of Fish Hoek.
