Muizenberg Historical Conservation Society will be hosting a talk by archaeologist Ute Seemann on Wednesday 26th February at Het Posthuys, starting at 5.30 for 6.00pm. The subject is the skeletons discovered under the floor of the old Police Museum last year, which aroused huge interest and speculation. Ute was the archaeologist appointed to investigate. The cost is R20 per head.
On Sunday 2 March Chris Taylor of the Historical Society will be hosting a historical walk through Muizenberg. Anyone interested can book on 082 908 3456 or firstname.lastname@example.org. The walk starts at 10.00am from the Checkers car park, Muizenberg. Included are the three sites managed by the Muizenberg Historical Society – Het Posthuys, the Battle of Muizenberg and Rhodes Cottage, also the railway station, our Cold War spy, the kramat, the synagogue and much more. The walk is not far – about a kilometre, but it takes 3 hours as there is much to discuss. The cost is R100 per head. The walk makes a lovely outing for a group of friends.
Rhodes Cottage is currently closed to the public as essential maintenance and renovation is being carried out. The reopening date is uncertain but probably late April or May.
