Song and Dance is a very black comedy running from the 1st – 19th May at 20:00 at the Kalk Bay Theatre. Two bungling house robbers bite off more than they can chew when they are interrupted while robbing a trendy apartment in a ‘mixed development’ building. The twists and turns are unexpected and the robbers and victim end up realising that they have more in common than they thought possible.

Song and Dance pokes fun at crime, money and fame and TV reality shows in the most in-your-face way.

This fast paced, funny and satirical play is playwright, writer, performer, director and blogger MeganFurniss’s latest creation for the stage. It was runner up in the regional PANSA (the performing Arts Network of South Africa) playwriting competition. Simon Cooper, of The Kalk Bay Theatre saw the staged reading and insisted that heproduce the funny script, with a couple of provisos; he wanted the same cast and director, and he wanted a soccer scene. He got both.

Song and Dance is directed by Ntombi Makhutshi (award winning actress of London Road fame) and performed by the delicious cast of Anele Situlweni, Deon Nebulane and Zondwa Njokweni.

It premiers at The Kalk Bay Theatre on 1 May and will be taking the Grahamstown festival’s fringe by storm.
