The carnival parade, which unites and celebrates the people of our diverse communities, begins at 10h00 at the corner of Longboat Street and Ou Kaapse Weg Extension (opposite the estate agent and lawyers offices on the corner) where participants will muster and register from 08h00. At 10h00 sharp, the parade will proceed up the grass verge on the west or “mall” side of Ou Kaapse Weg Extension to the 4 way intersection where site specific performances will take place.
Traffic flow on the Kommetjie Road will be managed between the 4-way intersection with Ou Kaapse Weg Extension and Sunnyacres Shopping Centre between X and X to ensure minimum disruption to motorists for the second half of the parade which takes to the road at the bus stop on the north side of Kommetjie Road between the 4 way intersection and the Capri robots. The parade culminates at the Sunnyacres Shopping Centre in Sunnydale at 11h15 entering the centre from the slip road on the east side of Lekkerwater Road, which will be restricted until all participants, puppets and floats are safely on the centre green.
Local jazz hero Chris “Marvelous Mouth” Tokalon hosts the stage show, on the Sunnyacres Shopping Centre green between 11h30 and 14h00. The line up features an array of deep south artists and dance troupes as well as intercultural collaborations by youth participating in the eMzantsi intercultural music programme.
Spectators can park at the Sunnyacres Shopping Centre and walk to the 4 way intersection, to enjoy the extraordinary wonderland atmosphere. For more information about the eMzantsi Carnival on 7 December, please contact the eMzantsi Office on .
