This Human Rights Day, thanks to funding from the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund, eMzantsi is giving you the right to have fun at their latest intercultural event, eMzantsi Mash-Up! On the public holiday Thursday 21st March from 11am-3pm at the Sunnyacres Shopping Centre, this outdoor concert will feature live performances from Masi Massive MCs Da O and TG, Ocean View harmony singers Van Die Blokke and hosts Pinki and Da Bruin coming to showcase their hiphop style from ‘over the mountain’ before they leave on tour to Amsterdam.

In a first for eMzantsi, there will also be a skateboarding competition, featuring local boosters pushing the limits like never before, with prizes from local streetwear label Banda da Song. Another highlight will be the Harlem Shake at 1pm – those who have caught onto the recent hype of this YouTube dancing frenzy are welcome to come and take part in eMzantsi’s version, complete with carnival costumes, featuring giant puppets and the eMzantsi Bloka carnival band who wowed the crowds at the Stormers latest pre-season friendly as well as the Cape Town Carnival last Saturday.

The eMzantsi Shake will be professionally filmed and edited before being posted online. All are invited to come along to show how the south can mash it up while enjoying some top music and skating performances. For more information contact the eMzantsi office on (021) 785 1515 or e-mail
