The Rotary Club Cape of Good Hope invites companies and other Rotary clubs to participate in their 6th Annual Dragon Boat Festival Regatta to be held on Saturday, 27 October 2012.

This promises to be another colourful, fun packed day as teams compete for the coveted winner’s trophy in the 6th  Annual Dragon Boat Festival to take place on the waters of Zandvlei.

TEAMS

Each dragon boat is manned by 10 novice paddlers as well as an experienced helmsman to steer the boat and a drummer to set the paddling rhythm as the team paddles in unison to the drum beat.

 

Four boats will take place in the heats with the day culminating in a nail biting final.

 

SAFETY

Safety will be paramount at all times.

∙    Each dragon boat will be provided with an experienced helmsman to steer the boat.

∙    Lifejackets will be provided for all entrants and a safety boat manned by fully qualified life guards will be on duty for the duration of the event.

∙    Experienced members of the Western Cape Dragon Boat Association  will load and unload the boats.

∙    The safety boat will be manned by fully qualified personnel will be on standby to ensure the safety of participants.

The Zandvlei Yacht Club has changing facilities; ample space for families and friends to picnic and watch and encourage the teams, and it should prove to be an exciting and enjoyable event for all.

CORPORATE BENEFITS

There are many advantages for companies taking part in this event.

1  Team building for employees and participants.  Paddlers, helmsmen and drummers have to work as a coordinated team to propel the dragon boats in an efficient manner.

2  Publicity and media coverage.  Company banners and advertising can be displayed on the day.  Photographs are allowed and will also be used for Rotary’s public relations campaigns.

3  Association with  the Rotary Club Cape of Good Hope’s charitable projects.

For companies participation in this event constitutes Corporate Social Investment and thus affects their BBBEE rating.

 

COSTS

For a boat of 10 participants……………………………………………….R 4,500.00

Only R450 per person

 

We urge companies, organisations or clubs to enter teams either by sponsorship directly or by a group of 10 individuals getting together and raising their own sponsorship. If you have been touched by someone suffering from cancer you might wish to make a donation!
