On behalf of the South African Mathematical Society and the AIMS Public Lecture Series, we are proud to announce that we will kick off with this theme a few months early by inviting the popular mathematician John Baez to deliver a live streaming video public lecture on this theme from California, on the eve of the SAMS conference.

Speaker: John Baez (University of California, Riverside), via live streaming.

Venue: Van der Sterr Building 1039 (map), Stellenbosch University

Date: Tuesday 30th October 2012
