Two Oceans Toastmasters is a club that is fast becoming known, not only for it’s fantastic vibe, but also for it’s outstanding achievements. Over the past two years we have grown phenomenally and have built up quite a repertoire of victories for speaking and for leadership. Here are some of our highlights!

Jeremy Fenn (Vice President of Education) represented our club at this year’s Humourous Speaking Contest. His speech “From Boy to Beard” earned him first place at the Area Contest and the Division contest. Jeremy went on to compete at the District (Southern Africa) Humourous Speaking contest in Johannesburg. This in itself was a huge achievement as Jeremy has only completed four of the ten speeches in the Toastmasters competent communicators track. The man who won the District contest was a Distinguished Toastmaster with over 40 speeches under his belt!

Reto Camichel, local celebrity hairstylist and member of Two Oceans Toastmaster was crowned the Humour Hop About Champion 2013 at Peninsula-wide contest held in Cape Town on Monday 25th November.  Reto, a Clovelly resident, who has been a member of Two Oceans for a year, was thrilled to take top honours at a contest that saw 9 clubs vying for the annual Hop About trophy. His hilarious speech entitled ‘EFT’, took the audience on his journey from stylist to the stars to cleaning penguins on SANCOB. The prize was awarded on audience response, and Reto’s speech brought down the house and brought home the trophy!
