Photo: MarottaAnna Notten (19) of St James and top New Balance Fish Hoek Surf Lifesaving Club (FHSLSC) surf-swimmer, surfski and kneeboard paddler, has returned from Peru, where she won silver in each of the elite ladies 6km and18km World Paddleboard Championships representing South Africa at the inaugural Stand-Up-Paddleboard (SUP) & Paddleboard (PB) World Championships which took place at Playa la Pampilla Miraflores, Lima, from the 19th to 25th February 2012.The former Wynberg Springfield Convent schoolgirl who matriculated in December 2010 became an overnight international ocean-sports sensation last year when she won the coveted Junior Ladies Long Run title (± 2kms on the beach) at the prestigious Australian Surf Lifesaving Championships in March 2011.

 

Anna’s younger brother, Dominic, is the South Africa’s 2011 U16 Junior Men Surfski Racing Champion and both are members of Lifesaving South Africa’s (LSA’s) Elite  High Performance Squad in preparation for
Rescue 2012 World Lifesaving Championships to take place in Adelaide Australia from 7th to 18th November 2012.

The Attached picture shows Anna Notten (RSA) paddling herself into a comfortable 2nd position midway through the gruelling 18km 2012 Women’s World Kneeboard Paddling Championship race held in Lima, Peru.
