Stuart Dawes of StupendisVid has captured some really dramatic footage of helicopters using water buckets to put out the fire on 10 December in Noordhoek between San Michel Lakeside property’s & Noordhoek beach. In his words “ this fire could have been devastating if it were not for the incredible dedication of firefighters, volunteers, pilots & all the support crew. I thank you & salute you!”
Again today, 15 December, a helicopter towing a water bucket flew down the Fish Hoek Noordhoek Valley heading toward the Silvermine Reserve. The fire season has arrived and after a very dry winter we need to be extra careful and alert.
