I Am Somebody! opens its Winter Soiree Series in the Scenic South with an evening of poetry featuring Diana Ferrus on Saturday May 28. Diana’s first English poetry collection, I’ve Come To Take You Home, was released last year. The book takes its name from the poem written for Sarah Baartman, which was instrumental in having the French government return her remains to South Africa, where they buried honourably.

Saturday May 28 is the also the International Day for Action for Women’s Health. Part of I Am Somebody!’s work is creating spaces for the healing, debriefing and empowerment of people who work in the women’s health sector. The poetry soiree will reflect on the issue of women’s health and provide a space for people to do the same.

Join us for an intimate evening of poetry and a warm meal of hot soup, fresh bread and wine.
