Penguin books describes this, correctly, as ”a story of passion, adventure and skulduggery on the frontline of African conservation. Following Tony Fitzjohn’s journey from London bad boy to African wildlife warrior, the heart of the story is a series of love affairs with the world’s most beautiful and endangered creatures”. He spent 20 years in Kenya as assistant to George Adamson and the lions.
After George’s death, he moved to northern Tanzania where he established the national park Mkomazi. He lives there still with his family. It’s a fascinating story.
