On the 28th of January Clive “Stompie “ Wakeford passed away peacefully after a short illness . To the end Clive was incredibly dignified and positive always seeking to reassure others. He was one of the original founding members of Fish Hoek Surf-Lifesaving in 1958 and served our club with distinction to the end. He served in many capacities including being club president from 1976 to the day he died. Clive was immensely passionate and proud of the lifesaving club for its place in the community as a voluntary lifesaving club and its fantastic sporting achievments over the years .
Up until his death Clive was still competing in surf-lifesaving competitions trying to beat his brother Doug around the cans in their surf-ski’s.He took both victory and defeat in the same humble manner and all of the members ( both past and present ) of New Balance Fish Hoek Surf-Lifesaving Club will miss him dearly and are the richer for having known Clive Anthony Wakeford .

Clive was a highly respected member of our community. His generous, genial and gentlemanly presence will be sorely missed by the very many people whose hearts he has touched. Our thoughts are with his family and close friends.
