We speak for, protect and care for animals. Established in 1872, the Cape of Good Hope SPCA is the founding society of the SPCA movement in South Africa and the oldest animal welfare institution in the country. Over the past 137 years we have diligently carried out our mission to prevent cruelty to animals, through education, law enforcement (our Inspectorate operates around the clock investigating reports of animal cruelty and neglect), veterinary care services (24 hour animal hospital and three mobile clinics serving impoverished communities), and running a kennel, cattery, horse care unit and adoption centre, which every year places hundreds of animals in loving and caring homes. The SPCA runs a mobile clinic at the Ocean View Civic Centre on Tuesdays from 14h00 – 15h30 and Thursdays from 10h00 – 11h30. The SPCA Wildlife Unit regularly responds to reports of injured, entangled and sick marine life such as seals and sea birds in the area as well as injured terrestrial wildlife such as buck, tortoises, porcupines and snakes. Please report instances of cruelty to animals and dog fighting to us on /58/59 or  emai l .
