Growing food, Growing people, Growing communities.

The Soil for Life Resource Center in Constantia is building a new training facility so that they can run more courses and grow their revenue base which enables them to work in poor communities.  The training courses are experiential, fun and teach the principles of home and small scale organic gardening.  They were a revelation to my husband who came home enthused with new eco friendly ideas and a passion for different herbs and vegetables.  Now we  have a thriving veggie patch, a sprout `garden’ in the kitchen and have discovered tasty new herbs and even weeds.  The training programme is about growing an organic gardening culture, but has an important role as a funding source for Soil for Life programmes in poor communities.   There, the gardening programmes are about teaching people skills to supplement their diet and their income.

Soil for Life is inviting concerned people  to sponsor building material.  A ‘Building Registry’ has been set up at Somerset Timbers.  Sponsoring even one item will be a step towards completion of the Training Facility.

Phone Derek Robb at Somerset Timbers on 021-845 8713 to organize to sponsor material on the list of required materials. Click here to see list.   Alternatively you can make a contribution directly to Soil For Life.  The reference for your deposit into our account is ‘Newbuild’. Our banking details are: Soil for Life, ABSA Bank, Wynberg. Account number: 4056855300; Branch code: 632005.

Sponsors will receive an invitation to the opening to share in the excitement of the roof-wetting ceremony and to see your name on a special plaque thanking all donors.
Soil for Life looks forward to having you on board as a partner in this venture.
