Constantiaberg Theatre Players presents

Willy Russell’s One for the Road

One for the Road at the masque Theatre in Muizenberg

LIFE BEGINS AT 40!

’One for the Road’ opens at the Masque Theatre, Muizenberg, on 16 May. This British comic masterpiece was created by the author of ‘Blood Brothers’ and ‘Shirley Valentine’. Set in 1985 in the north of England, this wickedly observant situation comedy finds Dennis, on the eve of his birthday, attempting to break away from the confines of his marriage and his middle class existence.

After a night with Roger and Jane, the ‘it’ couple from next door who epitomise this hated way of life, he reaches breaking point. To make matters worse for everyone, the suburban housing estate in which he lives with his wife, Pauline, is experiencing a spree of vandalism – the estate’s garden gnomes are suffering mysterious decapitations.

Is Dennis the upright citizen that he appears to be, or is he involved in the recent vandalising of the neighbourhood? Does his wife Pauline really know what secrets he keeps in the locked bureau?

Starring well known master of comedy James Skilton, along with Jane Stone and award winning actors Laura Bosman and Wesley Figaji, this adult comedy has an age restriction of 13. ‘One for the Road’ also marks the directorial debut of Lynn Moss.

Brought to you by Constantiaberg Theatre Players, ‘One for the Road’ opens on Friday 16 May and runs until Saturday 24 May, excluding Sunday to Wednesday.
