Two Oceans Toastmasters held its annual Humorous & Impromptu Speech Competition on the 7th of August 2013. It was a cold winters evening but our spirits were high – the competition promised to be a brilliant one with contestants challenging one another with their wit and side-splittingly funny humor… and they did not disappoint!
Each of the six contestants that participated in the Humorous Competition had us laughing until our cheeks hurt. Kay Price-Lindsay walked away with 1st place and will go through to the next level of the competition – the Toastmaster Area Contest in September.
For the Impromptu Speech Contest we had five very brave participants. Their topic was presented to them seconds before they had to speak and each of them did a stellar job. Melanie Steyn was our 1st place winner for the Impromptu Speech Contest and will also be competing at the Area Contest in September. Two Oceans will be supporting our winners in full force as they compete against the other clubs’ winners at the Area Contest in September.
Two Oceans Toastmasters hosts their meetings on the first Wednesday of every month at the Fish Hoek Civic Centre at 7pm. Guests are welcome to visit free of charge and join the toastmasters for an evening of inspiring and entertaining speeches!
We also have an Early Bird Express Meeting on the third Monday of every month, meeting at The Windsor Gardens Restaurant on Main Rd, Fish Hoek. The meeting starts at 8.30am for an hour and R40 includes a delicious breakfast & coffee.
