Join the Friends of the Silvermine Nature Reserve for a guided walk from Source to Sea along the Silvermine River. Celebrate World Environment Day by getting out and discovering what our local environment has to offer. The Silvermine River is one of the most pristine river systems in the Cape Metro. It is a small river that includes a rich diversity of habitats including Mountain Fynbos, Riverrine forest, Coastal Dune fields, Wetlands and Estuary.
Heron Burger of the Friends of the Silvermine Nature Area FOSNA is leading the walk. She will be supported by members of FOSNA who are very knowledgeable about our local plants, birds and general biology.
When: 9 June 2012 at 10:00
Where: meet at the Silvermine River Reservoir.
The walk will be from the reservoir down the river to Gate 2. From Gate 2 down to the Sunbird Centre where we will have our lunch. Then across the dunes down to the Clovelly wetlands parking area. There is no fee, but please bring a donation to contribute to the upkeep of the Silvermine Wetlands.
