Please be advised that there will be temporary stop/ go sections on the Main Road between Braemar and Clairvaux Roads starting today, Tuesday 1 October.  This is required to enable the contractor to complete the replacement and resetting of the remaining seven manhole frames and to remove and replace the temporary cold mix asphalt surrounds with hot mix asphalt at all the other manholes that were previously reset.  This work was unfortunately delayed by the recent three week labour strike and by the subsequent inclement weather.  As a result of this and the current school holidays, it has only been possible for the contractor to undertake this work on two days since 26 August.

To minimise disruption to traffic, every effort will be made to keep the half-width sections as short as possible.  The work will be done between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00 and it is envisaged that, weather permitting, the work will be completed by Friday 4 October.

As was mentioned in an earlier update, another issue that must still be dealt with is a suspected leak in the new water main that is required to pass a test in which the pipe is subjected to a pressure of 1.5 times the working pressure of 12 bar.  Once the leak is located, the pipe will be exposed at that point to carry out any repairs that may be necessary.

The project team once again apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Kind regards
