When athletes take to the streets for the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon on Saturday, 26 March 2016, drivers run the risk of being caught in traffic or falling victim to roundabout detours.

Note: Road closures and parking restrictions will be in full effect from the wee hours of the morning to midnight on Saturday, 26 March 2016.
ROAD CLOSURES FOR THE 2016 OLD MUTUAL TWO OCEANS ULTRA MARATHON (56KM)

CHAPMAN’S PEAK DRIVE Chapman’s Peak Drive will be closed to traffic from 3:30am. Spectators permitted to enter from Hout Bay to the various picnic spots from the Hout Bay side only until 7am.

HOUT BAY MAIN ROAD From Chapman’s Peak to Victoria Road Circle. Traffic coming into Hout Bay will be detoured away from Victoria Road Circle to Valley and then Disa River roads. Runners will be on the northbound lane (direction Cape Town).

HOUT BAY ROAD From Victoria Road Circle to Disa River Road will be totally closed to traffic. Runners will be in the eastbound lane (direction Constantia Nek).

HOUT BAY ROAD From Disa River Road to Constantia Nek, a convoy system for motorists will operate under the direction of the traffic department. Runners will be in eastbound lane (direction Constantia Nek).

M3 – UNION AVENUE: RHODES DRIVE/NEWLANDS AVE TO UCT Left lane will be coned off for athletes; right lane will remain open at all times for motorists travelling towards Cape Town. Please drive cautiously. Do note that Rhodes Memorial Restaurant will be accessible to the public.

Traffic going to the city from the False Bay areas will be diverted through Fish Hoek along Main Road to Kalk Bay and then along Boyes Drive to Lakeside; from there, drivers will be directed to the M3 (the Blue Route).
Residents in the following areas are requested not to park along the route and to use alternative side streets for the duration of the race:
- Between Klipper and San Souci Roads
- From Atlantic Road, Muizenberg through St. James and Kalk Bay until the police station just past Clovelly Road in Fish Hoek.
- Kommetjie Road from 17th Avenue through to Fish Hoek Circle at Main Road (runners will be running towards Sun Valley facing traffic within one lane which will be coned off).
Note that the M3 north-bound lane will remain open to traffic for the duration of the event, and delays can be expected during the 2015 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon. Motorists are asked to avoid using all roads leading to the race route and to comply with the directions given by traffic officers and marshals. Road signs will be in place during the week leading up to the race, advising of all road closures.
