The Two Oceans Aquarium organised the 4th Penguin Promises Waddle for a Week to raise awareness about the plight of the endagered African Penguin of which there are about only 60 000 left in the wild. It has been estimated that at the present rate of decline the African Penguin will be extinct within the next 15 years.

Volunteers walked from the penguin colony in Gansbaai to Boulder in Simon’s Town, a distance of 120kms. Members of the public were able to accompany them along the way. The photos below were taken by Vernon Hong as the Penguin walkers waddled through Fish Hoek.
