An excursion to Kirstenbosch to see the beautiful botanical art on display at the Kirstenbosch Biennale will be a highlight to your weekend! The standard of the botanical artwork on display at is very high, the paintings exquisite.

The theme for the exhibition this year is medicinal and traditional use plants, paying “homage to the evolution of botanical art … and highlight(ing) the rich history of traditional plant use among indigenous people, while aiming to raise awareness about unsustainable over-exploitation.”

 

At the launch of the Biennale last night, 29 August, artist Valerie Fay Anderson was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her lifelong contribution towards promoting botanical art and the conservation of southern African flora.
