NOVEMBER LINE-UP

Lectures

ROSALIND MALANDRINOS
presents
Wednesday 7th November 16h30
Michelangelo – Sculptor and Painter
This lecture will explore the early influences on Michelangelo’s artistic development in the medium of sculpture and how his sculptural ability can be identified in the ceiling frescoes of the Sistine Chapel in Rome. There will be a close analysis of the ceiling’s iconography.

 Wednesday 14th November 16h30
Michelangelo – Christocentric Iconographer
This lecture will continue with the iconography of the ceiling, followed by a study of The Last Judgement. The Last Judgement, painted on the altar wall, was commissioned more than 25 years after the completion of the ceiling, and the complex structure of this fresco will be analysed.  A number of different hypotheses will be offered as to the meaning of the Chapel as a whole.

R65 pp per lecture includes a glass of wine afterwards
