The long awaited new driver’s licence testing center for the far south peninsula has opened for business in Fish Hoek. It is situated at the Fish Hoek Civic Centre Complex and staff can be phoned on 021 7842023 / 4.
The South Peninsula Sub-Council (19) allocated R2.4 million in funding from their ward allocation fund to build this much needed service which will serve the communities of Simon’s Town, Glencairn, Fish Hoek, Ocean View, Noordhoek, Kommetjie, Scarborough, Clovelly, Kalk Bay, St James, Muizenberg, Retreat, Steenberg, Steenberg Estate, Tokai and Lavender Hill.
The new centre includes the following facilities:
Appointments for learner driver’s licence tests and practical driver’s licence tests (Light motor vehicle only)
Applications for parking discs for disabled persons
Applications for professional driving permits
Applications for the exchange or conversion of foreign driver’s licences
Applications for driver’s licence card renewals
The learner driver’s licence testing facility will accommodate a maximum of 15 applicants per sitting. One learner’s class has been introduced daily, and practical driver’s licence competency tests will commence within a few days.
Please note that there is limited parking at the Civic Centre and Fish Hoek Library and can become saturated at times. Traffic Services wishes to appeal to residents to be tolerant and to use the adjacent parking area behind the tennis courts.
