A Landmark Victory for Justice – an inspiration to civil society
The much anticipated book “A Landmark Victory for Justice: Biowatch’s Battle with the South African State and Monsanto” is now available!
This is a book about access to information, the right to know, and action in the public’s interest – a must-read for anyone campaigning for environmental or social justice.
Published by Biowatch South Africa, the book tells the inside story of how a reasonable request for access to GMO permit applications catapulted the environmental watch-dog into almost a decade of litigation against the South African state and monolithic Monsanto – a battle finally won in the Constitutional Court.
Written by Rachel Wynberg and David Fig, Biowatch founder trustees, the book provides an insider’s perspective on the organisational toll and lessons learnt. This “inside story” serves as an inspiration to civil society and a warning to those pursuing narrow profit motives at the expense of the environment.
“A Landmark Victory for Justice: Biowatch’s Battle with the South African State and Monsanto” can be ordered from the Biowatch website (http://www.biowatch.org.za/bookorder.php). An electronic version is also available for free download.
The book will also be available at various venues and activities during the build up to the global March Against Monsanto, planned for 25 May 2013. If you would like to promote or sell books during your planned event, please email Biowatch at firstname.lastname@example.org.
